This is my first time to blog on the church website. I have to say that we are so blessed to be members at First Baptist Bettendorf, and Lord willing, will have many opportunities to join with everyone in various ministries at the church, and hopefully many evangelism outreaches.
Wow...the Evangelism Training Class is already over? Seems like it just started. We hope you enjoyed it and were challenged to take the next step in your efforts to follow the command of our Lord Jesus Christ to "proclaim the Gospel to all creation".
To all the people in the class...again, I thank you for your faithfulness. May God open doors to family, friends, and even strangers (yikes) to be able to share the good news of the Gospel. Do not be afraid to make mistakes, and even be confronted with something you can't answer right away. Everyone has to start somewhere, and no one runs a marathon before struggling to run down the block. As we said, God can use your mistakes, but He cannot use your silence. As you begin to witness, you will be challenged to read the Word of God, to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit, to have your heart broken more and more, and to be on your knees to pray for the lost.
The Bible is clear that faith comes by hearing, and hearing from the Word of God. How then will they call on Him who they have not believed? And how are they to believe in Him whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone to tell them? And how are they to preach/proclaim/tell them unless they are sent? (Romans 10:14,15,17). We are to tell people the good news, not good advice. We proclaim the victory God has won over death and sin, and why it is so important for everyone to repent and believe the Gospel. As I said before....God, for His glory, uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things, such as being directly involved in the process of people getting saved.
